Step into the warmth and splendour of Appleby Castle this festive season and enjoy a traditional three-course Christmas dinner in the atmospheric surroundings of our 15th-century Dining Room.
With its magnificent high ceilings, historic stone walls and the welcoming glow of a roaring log fire, there are few more enchanting places to celebrate Christmas.
Arrive to a warming glass of mulled wine, infused with festive spices, before settling down to a delicious traditional Christmas dinner, accompanied by the gentle sound of Christmas carols played live on the piano.

Lady Anne Clifford (1590–1676)
Lady Anne celebrated Christmas at Appleby Castle during the 17th century, and her surviving diaries and household accounts give us a fascinating insight into these celebrations.
Christmas at Appleby Castle was an occasion for feasting, generous hospitality, gifts and religious observance. There is evidence of considerable expenditure on food, wine, beer and festive provisions.
Today, we continue this tradition of generous hospitality, welcoming guests to enjoy a three-course Christmas meal with a glass of mulled wine for just £27.50 per adult, £15 per child and £70 per family (two adults and two chidlren) within the historic surroundings of Appleby Castle.

As the piano fills the historic Dining Room with familiar Christmas carols, the fire crackles in the hearth and the aromas of a traditional festive feast fill the air, experience the warmth and atmosphere of Christmas in a castle steeped in nearly 900 years of history.

The Main Event
Traditional Roast Turkey with All the Trimmings
Succulent slices of roast turkey, accompanied by sage and onion stuffing, pigs in blankets, golden roast potatoes, seasonal winter vegetables, rich turkey gravy and cranberry sauce.
A Sweet Festive Finale
Homemade Sticky Toffee Pudding
Warm, moist date sponge generously covered in a rich butterscotch toffee sauce, served with creamy vanilla ice cream or warm custard.
