TRAVELLING BY CAR
Travelling from the South West
Travel along the M6 and exit at junction 38 and turn left at the first roundabout sign posted to Appleby. Travel for 12 miles along this road until you enter the town of Appleby.
Travelling from the North West
Travel along the M6 to the turn left at junction 40 sign posted for Penrith. Do not go into Penrith but continue on the A66 for approximately 12 miles until you see the sign post for Appleby.
Travelling from the East
Travel along the A1 and exit at Scotch Corner. Travel along the A66 for approximately 30 miles, past Brough. After Warcop, the next exit is sign posted for Appleby. Take the exit, travel into town crossing the river and onto the main street. The Castle is at the top of the main street.
CAR PARKING
Car parking within the Castle grounds is FREE!
Alternatively, there is a large pay and display car park in the town centre.
VISIT APPLEBY CASTLE & THE NORMAN CENTRE
TRAVELLING BY TRAIN
Appleby Railway Station is on the world famous Settle to Carlisle line (see map) and can be accessed from Leeds or Carlisle. This journey passes through spectacular scenery and reaches the highest altitude in England. Appleby Station is 5 minutes from the Castle.
COACH TOURS
Coach parties are welcome and parking is available within the Castle grounds. Organisers need to contact the Castle in advance.
