The doors to our 800 year old Norman Keep have been firmly locked for over 20 years. After a huge amount of internal restoration work on the ancient floors boards and stone staircases, we are ready to open once again.
We’ve created a new visitor experience – THE NORMAN CENTRE – a museum dedicated to the Normans and the history of the region.
You can journey through the Keep following an interactive audio trail created by a hugely talented audio team led by Branwen & Mike Prestwood Smith. Mike is normally mixing the sound on Hollywood feature films like Quantum of Solace and major TV dramas.
From the roof you will enjoy a 360° panoramic view across The Eden Valley and Cumbria beyond.
The Norman Centre at Appleby Castle will open to the public on Thursday 19 August 2021. Tickets are now on sale!
